Kompany ‘not worried’ about Neymar ahead of Brazil clash

Vincent Kompany says he is ‘not worried’ about the prospect of facing Neymar and co. when Belgium meet Brazil on Friday.

The two sides face off in the World Cup quarter-finals later this week.

Brazil swept aside Mexico 2-0 in the last leg thanks to goals from Neymar and Firmino, however Belgium endured a far less straight forward path to the last-eight.

Roberto Martinez’s side went 2-0 down to Japan on Monday night, however pulled of an astonishing late comeback to win 3-2, with Nacer Chadli netting a dramatic injury time winner to break Japanese hearts.

Despite their contrasting paths to the quarter-finals however, Manchester City captain Kompany says he is not worried about taking on the Brazilians, and more specifically Neymar, on Friday afternoon.

“I am not thinking about Neymar and what he is doing,” Kompany said.

“In fact, I only think about how we will play with Brazil, about how we will play as a team, our tactics for the upcoming game and how to fulfil our task. I am not reflecting on other things.”

The winner of Friday’s encounter will take on either France or Uruguay in the competition’s semis.
