Latest Manchester City Injury News: Updates On De Bruyne, Sane And Laporte Ahead Of The Derby

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will return to training tomorrow ahead of the game against Manchester United.

The midfielder injured his back in a fall near the end of the Carabao Cup final win versus Aston Villa and was subsequently missing from the squad that won 1-0 against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup midweek.

However, Guardiola said that while De Bruyne is not 100%, his fitness is improving and he does have a chance of playing at Old Trafford on Sunday:

“He’s getting better, tomorrow he’s going to train, he’s not perfect but he feels better. This morning with the physio he said he feels better. Not perfect.”

Leroy Sane has, though, been ruled of the derby. The German has recovered from a serious knee injury but he is still some weeks away from playing a first-team game. Guardiola feels the winger could do with some Under 23 matches to get him back to full fitness.

Aymeric Laporte is the only other player out injured. The Frenchman picked up a hamstring injury against Real Madrid and won’t be back in contention before the end of the month.
