Le Tissier Backs City And Liverpool To Enter Battle For United Target Who Would Be An “Amazing Signing”

Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier is backing Manchester City to enter the race to sign their former player Jadon Sancho in the summer.

Manchester United are reportedly leading the pursuit for the Borussia Dortmund winger but Le Tissier says he wouldn’t rule out either the Citizens or Liverpool getting involved in the battle to snap up the teenager:

“I think that would be an amazing signing for Manchester United. In fact, it would surprise me if there wasn’t any other clubs willing to pay that kind of money on his as well.”

“I think the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City [would be the other clubs interested] then Manchester United would have some serious competition if they were to sign him.”

Although Sancho is a quality winger, City’s involvement would probably be dependent on the future of Leroy Sane who is still reportedly a target for Bayern Munich.

Including the German, manager Pep Guardiola already has three wingers in his squad, as well as Bernardo Silva who is very capable when playing out wide.

City’s biggest issue is in the defence, and so the club’s summer transfer budget is likely focused on bringing in a centre-back. Sane’s departure would, however, change that but a decision is only likely to be made on his sale if it becomes clear that the 24-year-old isn’t interested in signing a new contract. His current deal expires in 2021.
