Leroy Sane hails Manchester City’s ‘togetherness’

Leroy Sane has praised the atmosphere in the Manchester City dressing room and says he believes the squad’s ‘togetherness’ has driven them to success this season.

City are 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, and can secure the title with just two more victories.

And Pep Guardiola’s men have already clinched the Carabao Cup, and are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

They take on Liverpool across two legs next month.

Sane has been a huge contributor the Cityzen’s profits this season, having scored 12 goals and laid 15 assists for his team-mates, and the Germany international believes that it is relationship with his team-mates that has inspired his and the side’s successes this season.

“The atmosphere since I arrived here is always really good,” he said.

“All the players are really nice, everyone is happy and trying to bring some joy to the team.

“Everyone laughs and has fun. Everyone one of us in the team enjoys spending time with each other.

“If a team has a good atmosphere, they know each other really well and it helps on the pitch to give a good performance.”

Sane is widely expected to be named in Joachim Low’s Germany squad for this World Cup after a terrific sophomore season with City, but the former Schalke man says his focus remains on the remainder of the season rather than the upcoming summer in Russia.

“Right now, not really,” he said when asked if he was thinking about a shot at World Cup glory this summer.

“I am always thinking about the Champions League and the Premier League because that’s what we have to focus on.

“If you think now about the World Cup and what we will achieve there, it’s not good because you’re not focused on what you have to achieve [right now].”
