Newcastle are expected to make an approach for Manchester City defender Nathan Ake in the January transfer window but the Citizens are likely to reject any bid, according to reports in England.
The Premier League champions are not interested in letting the former Chelsea and Bournemouth player leave midway through the season.
City’s stance has divided some fans on Twitter. While quite a few would consider offloading Ake for a decent price, others don’t think weakening their options in the middle of defence is a good idea:
Let him go for Β£75m, money can go towards a forward. If Pep ever decides he needs to buy one

Of course not why would we sell one of our only backup defenders in January ππ

Should cash in. Ake is average player. Not at City level

Ake has only started three Premier League games so far this campaign, but City have suffered injuries in that area of the pitch pretty recently and it would be a risk to sell the Netherlands international.
While the 26-year-old hasn’t exactly made a huge impression since his Β£41m move to the Etihad last year, he could still play an important role between now and May.
