Lewandowski “needs a change” – City given boost in pursuit of prolific Pole

The agent of Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski has dropped a huge hint the striker will leave the club this summer.

Lewandowski joined Bayern from rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014, and has since scored 151 times in only 195 appearances, helping his side win four consecutive Bundesliga titles.

However, after four seasons at the Allianz Arena, the striker’s agent, Pini Zahavi, insists the Poland international is looking for a fresh challenge.

Speaking to Sport Bild, Zahavi said: “Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career. The managers of Bayern know about it.”

Zahavi’s comments have given fresh hope of a number of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Manchester City, that they can land the 29-year-old this summer.

Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen on a re-union with Lewandowski, with the two having spent two seasons together at Bayern between 2014-2016 prior to taking over as manager of Manchester City.

Any move for the Pole however is expected to cost City around €90 million, with the striker still having three seasons remaining on his contract with Der FCB.

City are also expected to face competition from both Chelsea and Real Madrid should they try to land Lewandowski.

Chelsea want the striker to replace Alvaro Morata, with the Spaniard having failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge following his near £60 million move last summer, while Madrid see the Pole as a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.
