Liverpool V Manchester City: Match Preview And Betting Odds

This is Manchester City’s biggest game of the season so far, and manager Pep Guardiola will be aiming to close the gap to three points at the top of the table with a win at Anfield.

They will be facing a Liverpool side whose last defeat in the league came against the Citizens at the Etihad last January, and the clash on Sunday is likely to be a tight contest.

City will, though, be without goalkeeper Ederson. The Brazilian went off at half time in the 1-1 draw with Atalanta on Wednesday due to a muscular problem.

Guardiola has five other injuries going into the match. David Silva is also 50/50 to play on Sunday due to a thigh injury, but Oleksandr Zinchenko (knee), Leroy Sane (knee), Rodri (hamstring), and Aymeric Laporte are all unavailable.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has four players currently sidelined. Captain Jordan Henderson didn’t feature in the win against Genk midweek due to illness but should be in line to make his return for the City game. However, Joel Matip (knee), Xherdan Shaqiri (calf) and Nathaniel Clyne (knee) have all been ruled out.

The bookies are finding this one very difficult to call. City are 13/8 at Bet365 to get the win. A draw is 13/5 with William Hill while a victory for Liverpool is 17/10 at Unibet.

Predicted Score – 2-2
