“Looks Like The Real Deal…” BBC Pundit Praises City Star As He Names Him In His Team Of The Week

BBC pundit Garth Crooks has named Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte in his Premier League Team Of The Week.

The Citizens kept a clean sheet as they won 1-0 against Leicester at the weekend and Crooks claims Laporte made a big contribution in helping to secure victory at the King Power Stadium:

“Laporte has become a very reliable defender for Manchester City with or without Dias by his side. It has taken the Spaniard a while to find his feet in a team that does not carry any passengers. He now looks like the real deal and was instrumental in City’s clean sheet against a very dangerous Leicester City. With Laporte, Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and new starlet Manuel Akanji to choose from they look almost impregnable.”

Crooks also listed two other City players in his eleven. Goalkeeper Ederson was included, after making an excellent save from Youri Tielemans, while Kevin De Bruyne was recognised for his match-winning free-kick.

In terms of the rest of the team, Laporte was joined in a back three by Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot and Brentford’s Ben Mee. Arsenal duo Thomas Partey & Martin Odegaard were selected in midfield, along with Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville and De Bruyne.

Up front, Marcus Rashford’s winner for Manchester United against West Ham was enough to see him named, along with Newcastle’s Callum Wilson and Brighton’s Leandro Trossard.
