Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has suggested that Phil Foden may not start against Arsenal tomorrow despite the absence of David Silva.
The 19-year-old put in an excellent display against Dinamo Zagreb midweek but when asked if he was in line to start at the Emirates, Guardiola was pretty cryptic in his response:
“He could be ready, but there’s Gundo and Kevin who didn’t play in Zagreb, Bernardo can play there too.”
Supporters have been growing more frustrated with Guardiola’s treatment of Foden and want the teenager to be given his first league start of the season:
Making excuses already. Just play the kid!

So no then

Pep has lost it. He just wants teams to run us down so easily in that midfield. I’d rather Bernardo than Gundo in that midfield

With Foden having scored and provided an assist in the 4-1 win in Zagreb on Wednesday night, he could hardly have done more to convince Guardiola that he is deserving of a start.
However, the City boss has hinted that the England Under 21 international’s decision making leaves a lot to be desired and that may play a role if the likes of Ilkay Gundogan or Bernardo Silva are picked ahead of him tomorrow evening.
