Man City have ‘verbal agreement’ with midfielder

Manchester City reportedly have a ‘verbal agreement’ in place with Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who could potentially join the club within the next few days.

The Italian has been heavily linked with a move to City this summer, but a deal seemed to have hit a stumbling block when the two clubs were unable to agree a fee.

However, the midfielder’s agent broke the news about a verbal agreement on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, saying his client is in Brazil where he awaits a decision on his future.

“The two clubs are talking. Jorginho is in Brazil and waiting to find out what his future will be,” said Jorginho’s agent Jose Santos. “We have a verbal agreement with Manchester City, we are waiting for Napoli and the English to find an agreement.

“With a club like City, the names of the players they’re interested in always leak, but if the clubs can’t reach an agreement, there’s no point moving forward.

“Everything is in the hands of Aurelio De Laurentiis and Manchester City’s president. I can’t give you a date for when the talks will be complete.”

It is believed that Napoli are holding out for a fee of over £50m for the midfielder, whereas City are only prepared to sign the player for an initial £44m.
