Man City sign pre-contact agreement with inconsistent star – but why asks Pep?

There could be the first signs of discontent at the Etihad between Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and City Director of football Txiki Begiristain.

Begiristain obviously feels the team and the manager need more options in the wide areas of the pitch and made an early move to secure one of the most frustrating players ever to play in the Premier League.

Current PSG bench warmer Hatem Ben Arfa and upcoming free-agent had disappointing spells at Newcastle and Hull City where he almost always flattered to deceive.

The Frenchman started to resurrect himself after leaving the Premier League and joining Nice where he looked like some kind of player, scoring 18 goals and assisting seven in 2015/’16.

Ben Arfa then magically earned a move to French giants PSG but returned to his inconsistent, frustrating self and he has been unable to break through in Paris, not unsurprisingly which makes his move to City even more of a mystery.

The well-travelled wide man had this to say about leaving PSG and joining Man City:

“Soon my PSG adventure will end,”

“Despite the difficult moments, I am pleased to have worn this shirt. I will keep some wonderful memories of my teammates and with this message, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the many who have supported me.

“I will always love this club.”

“Now I can look forward to joining the mastermind that is Pep Guardiola at Man City who will surely enjoy working with me”.

When reached for comment Guardiola had this to say to the Official Man City website: “I think Txiki must have had a few too many pints when he met a bunch of agents the other night in the pub. Maybe if we have a food-poisoning bug hit the team I will be able to use Hatem Ben Arfa but otherwise I hope he makes a good cup of tea!”

So City fans are you happy with this free-agent signing announcement and having a laugh this April Fool’s Day?
