Man City to challenge Real Madrid for PSG’s Neymar

Manchester City are ready to challenge Real Madrid for the signature of wantaway PSG star Neymar this summer, according to reports.

Mundo Deportivo report that Pep Guardiola is eyeing a shock move for the Brazil international after missing out on Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United in January.

Neymar joined the Parisian’s only last summer in a world record deal worth nearly £200 million, and has since scored 25 goals and laid on 16 assists to help fire his side to an almost certain Ligue 1 title.

Things aren’t all as they seem however.

The former Barcelona star is reportedly unhappy at the Stade de France amidst rifts with team-mate Edinson Cavani and the fans, with whom he feels he is unfairly treated.

Such reports have opened the door for a potential summer exit.

Real Madrid have already stated their interest in the Brazil superstar, with sports label Nike reportedly ready to fund part of his move to the Bernabeu.

But City have now entered the fray, with Pep Guardiola keen on a move for the 26-year-old whom he regards as one of the best players in world football.

Neymar has also in the past hinted he would love to work under Guardiola, with the paur having just missed eachother at Barcelona.

He told Red Bull: “Yes, there is one [coach]: Guardiola is a guy who I really admire and who I would love to work with.”
