“Manchester City Already Informed Us” Club President Reveals Bid For Brazilian Wonderkid Is Imminent

Manchester City have informed Fluminense that they intend to make an official offer for their 17-year-old forward Kayky, the Brazilian club’s president has confirmed.

Mario Bittencourt has revealed that Shakhtar Donetsk have offered €5m (£4.4m) up front, as well as €15m (£13.2m) in performance-related bonuses for the teenager, but he also said that City are ready to make a competing offer:

“Manchester City already informed us that they’ll send a proposal too. They warned us yesterday. I don’t even know if it arrived today, because I’m giving you the interview. They will send us a proposal too.”

Reports in the Brazilian press in recent days have also linked Liverpool with Kayky, with the striker having struggled to agree terms on a new contract with Fluminense.

The player turns 18 in June and he could wait until then to make a choice on his future, but Shakhtar and City are looking to persuade Fluminense into selling now.

There has been no further communication about what sort of bid the Citizens will make for Kayky but they are likely to surpass Shakhtar’s initial offer in order to ensure they beat their rivals to the player’s signature.
