Manchester City defender Nathan Ake posted a photo of himself alongside a world-renowned actor on Instagram – none other than Rosamund Pike, of Die Another Day and Gone Girl fame.
Pike was present for Manchester City’s 4-1 win at the weekend – she has never publically disclosed her footballing allegiances, but we can now probably assume that she is a full-blooded Citizen.
Ake seemed overjoyed to meet the actor, as evidenced in the post’s caption, where he wrote: “Happy @mspike got to see the win 💪🏾 Great to meet you!”
Currently, Ake’s post has over 23,000 likes on Instagram. Among those who have liked the post include Joao Cancelo, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Newcastle United defender Sven Botman.
Rosamund Pike has led a fascinating career, boasting high-profile roles in a number of successful films. Perhaps her most successful role was as Amy Dunne on Gone Girl, for which she received Oscar, Bafta and Golden Globes nominations.
After a slow start to life at Chelsea, Ake has finally begun to find his feet as a centre-half at Manchester City. Initially, he was played as a left-back – however, since his rejuvenation as a wide centre-back, he has begun to look like a top player in that position.
So far this season, Ake has scored two goals over 33 appearances in all competitions for the Sky Blues – he has yet to register an assist, however.
