John Stones has given Manchester City fans an update on his injury condition with a post on Instagram – he appears to be back out training with the senior team.
In the post, Stones is shown training alongside his Manchester City teammates – including Jack Grealish, who he is pictured with in the second photo. Grealish also left a message of encouragement to his England compatriot in the comments section.
For the post’s caption, Stones simply wrote: “Back on the grass.”
The post currently has over 30,000 likes on Instagram. Among those who have liked the photo include Riyad Mahrez and Joao Cancelo, who is currently out on loan at Bayern Munich.
Stones’ injury came during Manchester City’s FA Cup victory over Arsenal back in February, where he was substituted off – he hasn’t played since this.
He was expected to return early this month – with this encouraging post, it looks like the Barnsley-born defender is on course to meet this expectation.
Manchester City have an intimidating set of fixtures ahead of them in the coming weeks. In their next seven league games, the Citizens will take on Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool. Having Stones back for these games would be a huge boost to Pep Guardiola’s chances – could we see him return sooner rather than later?
