Manchester City preparing shock raid for Real Madrid superstar

Manchester City are preparing a shock summer swoop for Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, according to reports from Spain.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Kroos is considering his future at Madrid after four seasons at the Bernabeu, and that Manchester City have emerged as a potential contender for his signature.

City boss Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of the German international having spent time together at Bayern Munich.

Kroos played under Guardiola for one season at the Allianz Arena in 2013/14, helping Bayern to a League and Cup double.

And the Spanish manager now wants to bring him to The Etihad as he looks to add further quality to his midfield in aid in next season’s defence of the Premier League title.

City also want to keep pace with the transfer ongoings of their rivals Manchester United ahead of the new season.

The Red Devils have already signed £52 million midfielder Fred, as well as highly rated young full-back Diogo Dalot, and Guardiola wants to ensure he remains one step ahead of the club’s neighbours.

Kroos, 28, made 43 appearances for Real Madrid last season, and starred as Los Blancos lifted the Champions League trophy for a record third consecutive year.
