Manchester City trio nominated for prestigious FIFA award

Manchester City trio Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva have all been nominated for the FIFA FIFPro World XI.

The trio were amongst 16 Premier League players included in the 55-man shortlist, which was voted for by their peers.

The list was compiled from the votes of 25,000 footballers from 65 countries.

The final World XI – which will include one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards – will be unveiled on September 24th during a special ceremony in London.

Thirteen other Premier League players were nominated for the award, including Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante, as well as Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Kieren Trippier.

Liverpool have four nominees in the form of Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Dejan Lovren, while Manchester United also have four in David De Gea, Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.

Everton’s new Colombian centre-back Yerry Mina completes the list of nominees from the Premier League.

Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale, who scored twice in last season’s Champions League final victory, was left-out, while Napoli’s Marek Hamsik, Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi and Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were amongst other notable omissions.
