Manchester City V Arsenal – Match Preview, Predicted XI And Betting Odds

Manchester City may have had a setback against Newcastle but Liverpool’s draw against Leicester on Wednesday night would have given them a much-needed boost.

With just a five-point gap heading into the home game against Arsenal, Pep Guardiola’s side will be more confident of overhauling the Reds and getting the three points on Sunday.

City are sweating over the fitness of number one Ederson ahead of the match. The Brazilian suffered a gashed leg prior to Matt Ritchie scoring the winning penalty for the Magpies on Tuesday evening.

It is believed it is touch and go whether the 25-year-old will be fully fit to face the Gunners. With Claudio Bravo still out with an Achilles injury, Arijanet Muric is on standby to come into the side.

Benjamin Mendy is still suffering from a knee injury and is a major doubt for Sunday, while captain Vincent Kompany also looks set to miss out with a muscular problem he picked up at the start of last month.

For Arsenal, manager Unai Emery may have Henrikh Mkhitaryan (foot) back for the clash at the Etihad. The Armenian has been out for over a month with a broken metatarsal.

Laurent Koscielny (facial injury) and Ainsley Maitland Niles (knee) both remain doubts for the game.  The Gunners also have four long term injuries. Hector Bellerin (knee), Sokratis Papastathopoulos (ankle), Rob Holding (knee) and Danny Welbeck (ankle) are all sidelined.

The bookies have City as favourites for the game. They are 1/3 odds-on at Sky Bet, with a draw 27/5 at Unibet. An Arsenal victory is 17/2 at Ladbrokes.

Manchester City’s Predicted XI To Face Arsenal:

Ederson, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Danilo, De Bruyne, Fernandinho, David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Aguero, Sane

Arsenal’s Predicted XI:

Leno, Lichtsteiner, Mustafi, Monreal, Kolasinac, Torreira, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Ramsey, Lacazette, Aubameyang

Predicted Score – 3-1 to City
