Manchester City V Lyon – Match Preview and Predicted XI

Manchester City V Lyon – Match Preview and Predicted XI

Manchester City will head into tonight’s match against Lyon off the back of a comfortable 3-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League.

Manager Pep Guardiola will have been pleased to see Leroy Sane’s name on the scoresheet after giving the German his first start to the season, but he would have been concerned by Sergio Aguero having to come off with an ankle injury.

However, the club revealed that the Argentine trained without any problems at the City Football Academy yesterday so he should be fit to face the French side tonight.

One player who is definitely out of contention is Benjamin Mendy. The Frenchman is still struggling with a knee injury that kept him out of the weekend victory against the Cottagers.

This evening’s opponents Lyon come into the game in indifferent form. They drew 2-2 against Caen on Saturday, and are currently sitting seventh in the Ligue One table, having won just twice in their first five league games this season and are not expected to really trouble the Premier League Champions.

It will be the first competitive meeting between the two sides at the Etihad with City hoping to get their Champions League campaign off to a good start.

Here’s how we think City will line up against Lyon tonight:

Ederson

Walker, Kompany, Laporte, Delph

Sterling, Gundogan, Fernandinho, David Silva, Bernardo Silva

Aguero

Predicted Score – 3-1 Manchester City
