Manchester City V Southampton – Match Preview And Predicted XI Plus Betting Latest

Manchester City will be without Kevin De Bruyne for up to six weeks after the player suffered knee ligament damage against Fulham in the Carabao Cup clash on Thursday night.

The Belgian superstar limped off with four minutes of normal time remaining, with youngster Claudio Gomes taking his place.

Fulham fullback Tim Fosu-Mensah landed on De Bruyne’s other knee to the one he injured in the opening weeks of the season, and the midfielder immediately signalled that he wanted to go off.

In terms of other injuries heading into the Southampton match on Sunday, there is a better news. Ilkay Gundogan is back in training after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Eliaquim Mangala is also fully fit after a number of months out with a knee ligament injury that he sustained whilst on loan at Everton back in January.

With Danilo (ankle) and Fabian Delph (knock) having both played against Fulham on Thursday after recovering from their own injury problems, it means that Claudio Bravo (Achilles) is the only other long-term absentee.

For Southampton, Charlie Austin (shoulder) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (illness) are both slight doubts. The Saints are in poor form heading into the match at the Etihad after having not scored a goal in their last four Premier League fixtures.

The betting odds at the bookmakers reflect that. Bet365 have City as 1-9 odds-on favourites, with every bookie unsurprisingly going for a home win. The best odds you will get for a Southampton victory is 33-1 with BetVictor. For a draw, the best price you’ll get is 10-1 with Betfair. Needless to say the odds are very much on a comfortable home win for City this weekend.
