Manchester City V Tottenham: Match Preview And Betting Odds

After a convincing opening day win against West Ham, Manchester City will not be too concerned that their first home game of the season is against Tottenham.

Spurs may have got the better of them in the Champions League, but in the Premier League last season, the Citizens accrued six points from their two meetings. Of course, it will be a tough game but manager Pep Guardiola has a team in good form and looking to make a statement.

They will, of course, be without Leroy Sane who is sidelined until the New Year with an ACL injury, but after hitting five past the Hammers, they are certainly not short of goals.

Due to a minor niggle, Bernardo Silva didn’t even feature at the London Stadium, and you would expect that the Portuguese international will return to the starting line up on Saturday.

Joao Cancelo is probably still not fit enough to feature for City, and it remains to be seen when Benjamin Mendy will make his comeback after his injury nightmare.

Tottenham, meanwhile, were behind for a long period against newly-promoted Aston Villa in their first game before coming out 3-1 winners. Manager Mauricio Pochettino is still looking to bed in some of his new signings, and it could be a good time for City to face them.

The bookies have the home side as the firm favourites for this one. They are 4/11 to win at Ladbrokes with a draw currently 9/2 with Paddy Power. A Spurs victory is 17/2 at BetVictor.
