Manchester City Vs Bayern Munich Champions League: Match Preview & Injury News

Manchester City are gearing up to take on Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich what promises to be a barnstormer of a Champions League quarter-final tie.

The Citizens have just one absentee for their game against Bayern in the Champions League – Phil Foden is confirmed to be out of contention, as he continues to recover from appendicitis.

In the previous round of the tournament, City needed to get past RB Leipzig to get this far. After a nervy first leg, which ended 1-1, the Sky Blues turned on the style in the second leg. Erling Haaland scored an eye-watering five goals in a single game as City went on to win the tie by a score of 8-1 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich picked up an impressive victory over PSG en route to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. They won the first leg by a score of 1-0, before finishing the job with a 2-0 victory in the second leg. However, the German giants have changed their manager since then – will they be able to maintain their European momentum?

The last time the two teams met in a competitive fixture was all the way back in 2014 – back then, Guardiola was Munich’s manager, while City were managed by Manuel Pellegrini. In that game, City emerged as 3-2 victors, with their goals coming by the way of a hat-trick from Sergio Aguero.

If City get past Bayern there is a chance they could face Chelsea who face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
