Manchester City Vs Sheffield United FA Cup Semi-Final: Match Preview And Injury News

Manchester City are set to take on Championship promotion hopefuls Sheffield United in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, April 22.

City are set to be without Nathan Ake for the game against the Blades. Currently, it is unclear when the Dutchman will be available for selection again. Phil Foden is also a doubt, but he may be fit to play – he made the bench for Manchester City’s midweek game against Bayern Munich, but was not brought on as a substitute.

In the last round of the tournament, City annihilated Vincent Kompany’s Burnley by a wide scoreline of 6-0. It was an impressive outing for the Sky Blues, as their goals came by the way of Julian Alvarez, Cole Palmer and an Erling Haaland hattrick.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United had to battle hard to defeat Blackburn Rovers in the quarter-finals. Rovers had the lead at 2-1, but United battled back late on – after a goal from Oli McBurnie, the winner was netted by none other than City loanee James McAtee.

The last time the two teams met in competitive action was back in 2021 in a Premier League game. In that match, City won by a score of 1-0, with Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus scoring the only goal of the encounter.
