Manchester City vs Wolves – Match Preview and Predicted XI

Manchester City take on Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend, hoping to make it three wins from as many games as they continue to defend their Premier League crown.

The Blues have had a fine start to their season so far, easily brushing past Arsenal on the opening day to win 2-0 and more recently thrashing Huddersfield 6-1.

City look just as strong as they did last season in their record-breaking campaign, and it’s fair to say that Guardiola’s men are still the most feared team in the country.

They now face another stern test though, this time against newly promoted Wolves, who are tipped to be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Guardiola’s men will travel to Molineux on Saturday afternoon to face Nuno Espírito Santo’s side. It will be the 118th meeting between the two sides, with City winning 47 and Wolves 46.

City will be without star man Kevin De Bruyne through injury, but have no other injury concerns.

New signing Adama Traore could be in line to make his full debut having become Wolves’ record signing this summer.

Martin Atkinson will referee the game between the two sides. The 47-year-old is a highly experienced professional with all the credentials needed to be classed as a top referee – as per Keith Hackett in this blog about the standard of refereeing these days.

Atkinson refereed City during three games last season, with Guardiola’s men winning, drawing and losing one each.

Here’s how we predict City will line up against Wolves:

Ederson

Laporte – Stones – Kompany – Mendy

Bernardo Silva – Fernandinho – David Silva – Mahrez

Jesus – Aguero
