Manchester City want PSG star to replace Raheem Sterling this January

Manchester City want Kylian Mbappe to replace Raheem Sterling this January, according to reports.

The Sun claim City are preparing a world record £200 million winter bid for the PSG superstar, with Pep Guardiola believing the Frenchman can help fire his side to winning the Champions League.

And PSG could be forced into selling Mbappe due to UEFA probing the club’s finances as part of a Financial Fair Play investigation.

The Ligue 1 giants splashed an huge £198 million on Brazilian superstar Neymar in 2017, and a further £160 million on Mbappe just a year later.

UEFA cleared PSG of breaking rules in June but in July said that decision would be reviewed, and the case has now been handed back to the Club Financial Control Body for further investigation.

Should City want to bring the 19-year-old to The Etihad however, they would have to ensure they were also not in breach of UEFA’s FFP rules.

This means they would likely have to part ways with one of the club’s big stars. England forward Raheem Sterling is favourite to be sacrificed.

Sterling’s current contract expires next year and so far City have failed to agree a long-term deal, meaning they could allow him to leave in January to avoid any chance of him moving on a free next summer.

Mbappe joined PSG from AS Monaco is 2017, and has since scored 26 times in 49 appearances for the French giants. The teenager also scored four times as France lifted the World Cup in Russia this summer.
