Manchester City’s Champions League Group Stage Revealed

Manchester City’s Champions League group stage opponents have been revealed this week, and it’s fair to say they have been drawn in the most favourable group out of all the English clubs.

City smashed to victory in the Premier League last season, winning the league with a record points tally of 100, but it’s fair to say that their exit in the Champions League Quarter Final served as a bitter disappointment, as they were one of the favourites to go on and win the competition.

This season it is likely that the Blues will go all out in their attempts to finally win the prestigious competition, something that would almost certainly hold the club’s name as one of the biggest in the world.

City were drawn in Group F, and will face Shakhtar Donetsk, Lyon and Hoffenheim – all very winnable games.

They will face Lyon at home on 19 September, before facing Hoffenheim away on 2 October. They then take on Shakhtar away on 23 October before playing them again at home on 7 November. They will then face Lyon away on 27 November and play their final group match against Hoffenheim on 12 December.

City faced Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League last season, and beat them 2-0 at the Etihad before suffering a surprise 2-1 loss away from home.

Lyon finished third in Ligue 1 last season, as did Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
