Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos will join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, according to French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich had also been linked with the Spanish World Cup winner, but Bouhafsi reports that the centre-back has agreed a two-year contract with PSG and is due to have a medical soon:

City were thought to be genuine contenders for Ramos, but it seems the 35-year-old was more interested in a switch to Paris instead.

Whether the Premier League champions will make a move for another defender this summer, it remains to be seen. Aymeric Laporte is angling for a transfer away from the Etihad and manager Pep Guardiola won’t want to go into next season with only three recognised centre-halves.

The club have been tentatively linked with Brighton’s Ben White in recent days, but Arsenal are said to be close to signing the England international. Previous targets, such as Villarreal’s Pau Torres and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde could, though, come back into consideration once again.
