Michael Owen Tips Surprise Name To Win The Golden Boot Ahead Of Salah, Aubameyang And Kane

Former England international Michael Owen says he has a “sneaky feeling” that Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus will be in contention for the Golden Boot this campaign.

The Brazilian scored 14 goals in the Premier League last season and, with Sergio Aguero, unlikely to be ready to start the first game against Wolves on Monday night, Jesus could begin the campaign as the Citizens’ first-choice striker.

With that being the case, it looks as though Owen is anticipating that Jesus will hit the ground running and rack up the goals to finish ahead of the likes of Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang:

It’s a bold choice, since Salah has already started the season with a hat-trick in his first match but, considering the number of chances that City create, Jesus could well be near the top of the goal rankings if he can be a bit more consistent with his finishing.
