Napoli owner admits Jorginho deal could be done in ‘days’

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has admitted that a deal for Jorginho to join Manchester City could be finalised in the coming days after positive talks have taken place.

The Italian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to City this summer, but a deal seemed to have hit a stumbling block when the two clubs were unable to agree a fee.

It appeared that Guardiola would instead look elsewhere for a midfield signing, with names such as Mateo Kovacic and Mario Lemina touted with moves to the Etihad.

However, speaking to The Sun, De Laurentiis revealed that the deal remains on, and that it could be wrapped up in the coming days.

“I think the deal [Jorginho to City] can be done in the next few days,” he told Sun Sport. “Everything is possible as we have a good relationship with Manchester City and their people but we must negotiate.

“We are still not in agreement over the price for the player but we’ll be near to the conclusion as they made an effort in the last few days.”

City’s search for a midfielder comes after veteran Yaya Toure left the club when he contract expired this summer.
