Newport County V Manchester City – FA Cup Preview, Predicted XI And Betting Odds

Manchester City will be very confident heading into the FA Cup fifth round tie against Newport this weekend.

The Welsh club may have caused some massive upsets already by knocking out Leicester City and Middlesbrough but Pep Guardiola will expect to win this game comfortably.

City will have three players out injured for the cup clash. Benjamin Mendy continues to struggle with the meniscus in his knee.

The Frenchman returned to full fitness to face Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup last month but issues have persisted despite having surgery back in November.

Claudio Bravo is back in Manchester as he steps up his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury but no return date has been set for the Chilean.

Doubts also remain over the fitness of captain Vincent Kompany. The 32-year-old has not featured in the first-team since early January because of a muscular problem.

For Newport, midfielder Andrew Crofts will miss the match against City. The 34-year-old has been ruled out for a month with a calf injury.

Loanee Ben Kennedy is cup-tied for the game at Rodney Parade after having played for Stevenage in the first round defeat to Plymouth.

The bookmakers unsurprising have City as heavy favourites for the game with Betway having them odds-on at 1/14. A draw is 14/1 at Betfred while an unlikely win for Newport is 33/1 at William Hill.

Manchester City’s Predicted XI To Face Newport County:

Ederson, Danilo, Otamendi, Laporte, Zinchenko, De Bruyne, Gundogan, David Silva, Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Sane

Newport’s Predicted XI:

Day, Poole, Franks, Demetriou; Willmott, Bennett, Bakinson, Butler; Dolan, Matt, Amond

Predicted Score – 5-0 to City
