Manchester City are keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach centre back Nico Elvedi, according to reports in Germany.
The 22-year-old is said to be a target for the Citizens as they seek younger replacements for captain Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi.
Many supporters on Twitter think the club should focus on bringing through their own talent:
No need to sign him… There’s Sandler & Eric Garcia.

He’s a great defender, but we have talent that could fill that position. Just as good or even better in my opinion

The likes of Eric Garcia, Philippe Sandler and Tosin Adarabioyo have all shown potential but Elvedi does have more first-team experience.
For Gladbach this season, the Swiss international has made 18 league appearances, helping the Bundesliga club to third in the table.
His side have the second best defensive record in the league, having conceded just 21 times in 21 games. However, they did suffer a 3-0 defeat against Hertha Berlin at the weekend.
Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl has responded to the reports linking Elvedi with City, stating that they have received no formal approach for the defender:
“I deal with such things only when I have concrete offers. But they do not exist at the moment.”
