‘No Surprise There’ ‘He Can’t Downgrade To Europa’ Fans Discuss City Talisman’s Potential Move To Spain

Barcelona are “highly interested” in snapping up Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The reporter claims that talks over extending the club captain’s contract at the Etihad beyond the end of the season have not progressed and Barca are keeping tabs on his situation:

Supporters on Twitter are not that surprised that the La Liga side are looking to sign another one of their players, but they don’t believe Gundogan would consider a move to the Camp Nou:

As Plettenberg also mentions, Gundogan has made it clear that Pep Guardiola‘s future will also have a bearing on whether he stays in Manchester.

The Spaniard’s contract also expires in the summer, and it looks as if Gundogan may be waiting to see what his manager decides to do. Barcelona are not thought to be the only club interested in the German international, with Bayern Munich and Arsenal having also been linked with the player in recent months.
