‘Nothing On The Table’ City Still In Contention As Report Confirms Arsenal Are Not Close To Signing 50M Rated Defender

Arsenal have no agreement in place to sign Brighton’s Ben White, according to The Argus. The local newspaper reports there is currently “nothing on the table” in terms of a bid the Seagulls would accept.

That could be a major boost for Manchester City if Pep Guardiola’s side do enter the race for the England international. The Citizens, along with Chelsea and Everton, have been tipped to get involved in the battle for the player’s signature.

Whether there is any truth to those stories, we shall have to wait and see, but White could be a candidate if City do lose Aymeric Laporte this summer. The Spanish international is believed to be keen on moving clubs in order to get more first-team football.

However, it is not likely that City will receive a satisfactory bid for him. Barcelona are thought to be the team most likely to make a move, but a deal would depend on the two clubs agreeing to a player swap, which isn’t something the Premier League side are interested in doing.
