‘Oh, You Have To Be Kidding Me’ ‘Why Did Pep Even Start Him?’ City Fans Frustrated By Latest Injury Setback

Manchester City attacking midfielder Phil Foden is set for another spell on the sidelines after a recurrence of an ankle injury.

The 21-year-old started the 2-1 defeat to RB Leipzig last night but was taken off at half-time. The match was a dead rubber, with the Citizens having already qualified for the knockout stages, and fans on Twitter were questioning Pep Guardiola’s decision to start him:

Foden is expected to be missing when City take on Wolves at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, while he will also be a major doubt when the Premier League champions face Leeds on Tuesday evening.

The England international has had his injury issues since the European Championships last summer. He started the season on the treatment table due to a foot injury he picked up at the tournament and he then missed the matches versus Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham last month when the initial problem with his ankle occurred.
