Phillips is a player in demand, with West Ham, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal having also been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old over recent months.
The midfielder’s contract runs until 2024 but negotiations over an extension are said to have stalled so there is a possibility that Leeds would consider letting the player go at the end of the season.
City are seeking a replacement for Fernandinho. A number of options have been mentioned as the Brazilian’s potential successor, including Declan Rice, Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, Sporting Lisbon’s Matheus Nunes and even Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, so we shall see who the Manchester club end up going after.
