Pep Guardiola Expresses Admiration For Coveted England And Premier League Superstar

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has praised West Ham United’s talisman, Declan Rice, in a recent interview with BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone.

When asked for his opinion on the 24-year-old England international star, Guardiola simply said: “He’s an exceptional player.”

Several clubs are believed to be interested in signing Rice, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United – the Citizens are far from the only club who are linked with him.

Moreover, it is difficult to see where Rice would fit into City’s setup. The defensive midfield position – Rice’s primary role – is already occupied by Rodri, who is one of the best holding players in the world. For all of Rice’s talents, he is not on the same level as the Spaniard at this stage in his career.

It is unclear how much Rice will cost to buy at this stage. While West Ham have reportedly slapped a price tag of £100 million on him, some outlets are reporting that he could cost as much as £120 million.

In a tweet from Fabrizio Romano, he wrote: “Pep has always appreciated Rice as top midfielder but the race this summer will include many top clubs — price tag still not clear, up to West Ham.”
