Pep Guardiola makes shock inclusion in Manchester City’s pre-season squad

Joe Hart has been named as a shock inclusion in Manchester City’s pre-season squad for their tour of America.

The 31-year-old was named alongside Claudio Bravo as one of two keepers of Pep Guardiola’s squad, with regular number one Ederson not yet having returned to training following his time with Brazil at the World Cup.

Hart has spent the past two seasons on-loan away from City with first Torino and most recently West Ham.

The Englishman however has struggled for form whilst away from The Etihad, with his displays leading to his omission from England’s World Cup squad, with Gareth Southgate opting to take Burnley youngster Nick Pope to Russia instead.

Hart is joined by new signing Riyad Mahrez, as well as World Cup winner Benjamin Mendy and Portugal’s Bernardo Silva in Guardiola’s squad.

City start their International Champions Cup campaign against Borussia Dortmund in Chicago on Friday before taking on Liverpool in New York on Wednesday 25 July and Bayern Munich in Miami three days later.
