Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne was not present as the first team returned to training ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League group stage match against Dinamo Zagreb.
There has been no suggestion from manager Pep Guardiola that the 28-year-old is injured, although some supporters on Twitter are worried that he may have picked up a knock against Everton:
Please God no.

Confident he’ll be ok. No need to play against Zagreb

Still, even if De Bruyne wasn’t ruled out for Tuesday’s game, there is a case to be made for not starting him anyway. City got off to an excellent start in the group with a 3-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk last time out and the home game versus Dinamo could be an opportunity to rotate the side.
With the Belgian international in such excellent form, it would be wise to wrap him in cotton wool. The playmaker has scored two goals and laid on an incredible nine assists in just nine appearances so far this campaign.
