Prediction Model Shows City Have A 41% Chance Of Winning This Season’s Champions League

Manchester City are huge favourites to win this season’s Champions League, according to a prediction model run by FiveThirtyEight.

The statisticians say the Citizens have a 41% chance of lifting the trophy in May, while last year’s winners Bayern Munich are rated as having only a 12% chance.

Third in the running is Liverpool on 10%, with their odds likely to have increased after their 2-0 win over RB Leipzig in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie last week.

Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all joint fourth on the list, rated at 6%, while Barcelona are among those who have been given less than a 1% chance of going all the way after their 4-1 home defeat to PSG.

City’s high percentage probability may change after they face off against Borussia Monchengladbach in their knockout round match tomorrow night, but it’s clear who the smart money is going on this season.
