Premier League And EFL Confirm That Fixtures Will Be Postponed This Weekend

The Premier League and the English Football League have both confirmed that this weekend’s fixtures have been postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The UK Government had left it down to organisers of sporting events to decide how to commemorate the passing of the British monarch.

However, English football’s governing bodies have determined that cancelling the next round of matches was the best way to mark respect. There will, therefore, be no games played in England’s four professional leagues over the course of this weekend.

Monday’s match between Leeds and Nottingham Forest will also not go ahead, and it is yet to be determined when the fixtures will be rescheduled.

Manchester City were set to face Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening but Pep Guardiola’s side will now have to wait until they play Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday for their next game.
