REPORT: Chelsea ‘Wants To Try’ And Sign Key City Transfer Target Who Guardiola Describes As “Exceptional”

Chelsea are now involved in the race to sign Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, according to Fichajes.net.

The Spanish rumour mongers claim Thomas Tuchel’s side “wants to try” and sign the 25-year-old this summer, with Manchester City and Liverpool also reportedly interested in the playmaker.

Grealish is believed to be a key transfer target for the Citizens, and manager Pep Guardiola is a keen admirer of the midfielder, having praised the England international in the past for his ability:

“I had a lot of information about his quality in the past and I think he has overcome expectations that maybe I had or other people had. He is an exceptional player.”

City supporters shouldn’t be too concerned with this story. Fichajes.net are not the most reliable site so it’s probably wise to take their claims with a large pinch of salt.

It will still be a challenge to sign Grealish, though, and it is believed that Guardiola will oversee a clearout of some high-profile players in order to finance a move for the midfielder.

The Englishman had an excellent season for Villa, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists in 27 appearances.
