REPORT: City Anticipating ‘Some Good News’ On 250M Double Transfer ‘By The Weekend’

Manchester City are optimistic that they will receive some “good news” about a deal for either Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish or Tottenham’s Harry Kane “by the weekend”, according to the Sun.

It has been a frustrating summer for the Premier League champions so far, having failed to sign a single senior player, despite their intentions of going big in the transfer market.

Both Grealish (£100m) and Kane (£150m) have substantial price tags, and while deals for both were always expected to be complicated, the lack of movement on either transfer has proven to be a major frustration.

Kane, who has also been tracked by Manchester United and Chelsea, is still said to be determined to leave Spurs, but chairman Daniel Levy appears to be extremely reluctant to let him leave.

In the meantime, City have been raising funds by selling a number of fringe players, but getting more high-profile stars, such as Bernardo Silva, off the club’s books has proven to be more challenging.

The lack of departures means signing both Grealish and Kane is unlikely but it seems there is still hope that one of these deals can be done before the start of the Premier League season.
