REPORT: City Poised To Sign Portuguese Teenage Sensation On Five Year Deal

Manchester City are close to signing Benfica midfielder Tiago Dantas, according to Portuguese newspaperRecord.

The 18-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of the season, and the player looks destined to make a move to the Etihad Stadium in the summer.

Dantas has reportedly flown in to the UK, along with his agent, to sign a five-year contract with the Citizens.

The Portuguese Under 19 international is one of Benfica’s brightest young prospects and has been in good form for his club this campaign.

Dantas has yet to play for the first team, but he has made 12 appearances for the B team in the Portuguese second division this season, scoring his first senior goal in a 1-0 win against Estoril at the end of November.

He has also featured for Benfica’s Under 19s in the UEFA Youth League, starting six games and scoring two goals against Ajax and AEK Athens
in the group stages.
