REPORT: City Set Sights On £63m Rated Poacher As Aguero’s Replacement

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland as a possible long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero, according to 90min.com.

The website claims that the Citizens are keeping in touch with his father, and former City player, Alf Inge Haaland, as they monitor the Norwegian’s performances following his move to the Bundesliga last month.

Reports in Germany suggest that the former Manchester United target has a release clause of £63m, which will come into effect at the end of the 2021/22 campaign in 17 months time.

With Aguero turning 33 by the end of next season, the need for a successor will become more urgent. The Argentine has previously stated that he wants to return to his former club Independiente before he retires so whether the timing will work out so that City can bid for Haaland, it remains to be seen.

The Manchester club are said to be willing to allow Aguero the opportunity to decide when he leaves, but the striker appears to be happy to remain at the Etihad at this moment in time.
