Report Claims ‘Well Placed Sources’ Confirm That City Are Targeting One Of Chelsea’s Best Players

Manchester City are interested in signing Chelsea right-back Reece James, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that “well placed sources” have told them that the Premier League champions and Real Madrid are both keen on snapping up the England international.

It is believed City are keen on James being Kyle Walker’s long-term replacement, and they could try and exploit the ownership problems at Chelsea to try and get their man.

There could be a fire sale of the London side’s best players this summer if an agreement is not reached to sell the club before the end of the season.

The Daily Mail are not the only source to have mentioned City’s interest in James. Back in June last year, The Athletic‘s Chelsea correspondent Simon Johnson also made the same claim so don’t be too dismissive of this latest report.

Of course, if Chelsea are bought out soon, then the Citizens’ pursuit of James will likely come to nothing so we shall see how things play out.
