Report Suggests There Is ONE Scenario Which Could See Guardiola Leave City For Barcelona

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola would only consider returning to Barcelona if Joan Laporta wins the race to become president of the Catalan club, according to the Daily Mail.

Laporta appointed Guardiola as Barca boss back in 2008, and the pair have remained close since then. However, the presidential candidate is not the favourite to succeed Josep Maria Bartomeu in the post.

Victor Font is currently the one tipped to become the next president and he has plans on installing former players Xavi and Carles Puyol in leadership roles rather than appointing someone like Guardiola.

In terms of his future at City, Guardiola has repeatedly said that he wants to stay at the Etihad Stadium but he has yet to commit to a new contract despite his current deal expiring in the summer.

The Mail suggests that the 49-year-old will decide on his next move in January as he will have a better picture then as to who is in charge at Barcelona.
