Respected Journalist Confirms City Have Joined Chelsea, Liverpool And United In Race For 67K A Week Midfielder

Manchester City are likely to challenge the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid for the signature of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, according to journalist Patrick Berger.

Sport1‘s chief reporter has confirmed all five clubs are very interested in recruiting the England international, although there haven’t been any formal negotiations at this stage:

“There are many clubs that are already on him. Liverpool Real, City, Chelsea, United – everyone threw their hats in the ring. But it’s not yet so far that you can talk of anything concrete.”

Dortmund are said to be keen on keeping Bellingham and they are expected to offer him a contract extension, which would see him pocket a lot more than the €4m a year (£67,000 a week) salary he is currently earning.

However, City and other teams do believe that Dortmund would be tempted into selling up if they do receive a significant offer. A €150m (£131m) price tag has been suggested but it is believed that any bid over €100m could well be considered.

Pep Guardiola is known to be a big fan of Bellingham, having described him as an “exceptional player” as recently as last month, so expect the Premier League champions to push hard to secure his services.
