Rio Ferdinand Makes Emphatic Statement About Who Will Win The Premier League Title

BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand believes that Manchester City have already sewn up the Premier League title before the end of January.

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently 11 points ahead of Liverpool, and 13 above Chelsea in the table, following an excellent run of form, and Ferdinand claims their ability to get results, week in and week out, means they won’t be stopped:

“The league is done. City, for staters, are now on a 12-game winning streak and six of those games they have won by one goal. They just do enough. They are not exerting any more energy than they need to, they’re doing enough and they are getting the job done.”

“What I like about Pep, when he was speaking after the game, is that he said the great thing he likes about this team is their ability to keep churning out wins, in terms of trophies as well, over a sustained period of time that he has been there. It is not just one season on, one season off, they have done it every year.”

Ferdinand is right to praise City’s consistency in recent years. Particularly this season, when many felt it could be a three-team or even a four-team title race, they have risen to the top of the table and dominated the competition.

There is, of course, no room for complacency. Liverpool do have a game in hand, and they will face City at the Etihad in April, but if they can maintain a healthy lead in the coming weeks, it will be hard for the Manchester club’s rivals to claw back the massive lead they have built for themselves.
