BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand admits that Manchester City’s excellent form means he can’t see Chelsea claiming the title this season.

The former Manchester United defender backed Thomas Tuchel’s side in preseason, but, with the Blues now trailing the Citizens by 11 points, Ferdinand says he can only see one team finishing top of the table:

“I tipped Chelsea at the start of the season but if you look at the results and performances in recent weeks and form and momentum, City are alone.”

City’s victory over Arsenal yesterday means they have extended their winning streak to an impressive eleven matches. With Chelsea facing Liverpool today, one of their rivals could be knocked out of the race by the end of the weekend too.

After their FA Cup third-round tie against Swindon next weekend, City do face Chelsea in their next league fixture but, with it being at home, you would back Pep Guardiola’s men to come out on top. If they make it twelve victories on the bounce, it will go some way to securing their fourth Premier League title in five years.
