Riyad Mahrez still hoping for Manchester City move this summer

Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has revealed he is still hoping to complete his long rumoured move to Manchester City this summer, saying it would be a “good move for everyone”.

City saw four bids, the highest being £60 million, for the Algeria international rejected by Leicester City during the January transfer market.

The saga culminated in Mahrez refusing to train with his Leicester team-mates towards the end of January in a failed attempt to force a move through a move to The Etihad.

Upon his return, the 27-year-old was greeted with mixed a mixed reception from the Foxes fans, but has since appeared to win them back over following some impressive performances including a sensational last gasp equaliser against Bournemouth and other good displays like against Chelsea in the FA Cup loss.

However, in yet another turn in the ongoing saga, Mahrez has now revealed he still hopes to leave Leicester at the end of the season to complete a move to Manchester City.

“Well, Man City is a good move for everyone,” said Mahrez, “Like I said, it’s the past, I really don’t want to talk about this because it’s behind me, if I start taking about this its coming back to the transfer window and now I’m moving forward, trying to do my best for the team.

“You know in football, players come and players leave.

“I’m not saying I’m going to go, there’s always talk between me and the club, everything is very good, we will see in the summer if anything comes.”

Any move for Mahrez is expected to cost City in excess of the £60 million bid for him during January, with the Foxes still keen to hold on to their prized asset.
